| Abstract：A process suitable for large-scale preparation of 5-bromo-2-methyl phenylhydrazine hydrochloride was developed. The title compound was synthesized from p-toluidines via a series of reactions，including nitration，sandmeyer reaction，nitro reduction，diazotization，reduction. The product was obtained in overall yield of 30%. |
