Abstract5-(Bromoacetyl)salicylamide is an important intermediate of medicine and pesticide. 5-Acetyl salicylamide was brominated by bromine to give 5-(bromoacetyl)-salicylamide in high selectivity. The yield was 93.2% when the molar ratio of 5-acetyl salicylamide to bromine was 1 1.05 at 5 for 12 h. |
